The Informatics Systems & Applications - Environmental Informatics Research Group (ISAG-EI) is led by Dr. Kostas Karatzas, Associate Professor at the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering. ISAG-EI personnel is active in:
  • the academic sector undertaking undergraduate as well as MSc and PhD level courses,
  • the R&D sector in areas like data-driven modelling and problem solving, data driven analytics and advanced simulation methods, environmental informatics, computational intelligence, OGC-compliant information services, participatory environmental sensing etc.
  • international collaborations with various Universities, Research Institutes and Companies


  • We participated in the 1st intercomparison exercise for air quality sensors in the frame of the EuNetAir COST action, Aveiro, Portugal, October 2014. Results have been published in an Atmospheric Environment paper.
  • We are participating in the International Training course: Networked Environmental Monitoring – from sensor principles, to be held in Aarhus University, 21-23 February 2017, Copenhagen, DK
